Welcome to the 19 who have entered The Physicality since the last edition! Join the 707 of those who are into learning about the real world here:
In addition to The Physicality, I have been building Joust.
Joust hosts upscale game nights for fun-loving people in hotels and lounges. It aspires to be the first hospitality brand to facilitate play. I published both “Social Clubs Without Houses” and “On the Recreational Renaissance” to learn more about the industry I was playing in.
Ahead of the next Joust on Wednesday, March 27th at 6:30 pm in NYC, I wanted to share the email I sent after the last event. (Fill out the interest form to be invited to this and future events.)
Email Sent on 2/29:
Dear Members,
Even with additional seating, we filled the room. We were supposed to be out at 10 and left after midnight on a TUESDAY. Seriously - I put 60 of you together and you just started playing. You hosted each other. You invited others to join your table and were comfortable enough to try games you never did before. I didn't even get to make my welcome toast because you all just got into it! My favorite pieces of feedback:
Notice how both texts are about the people who like games and not the games themselves? That's exactly what I wanted to test out. So, thank you for being great hosts. Some moments:
Alex taught others how to play Mahjong. She was such a good teacher that Reese won his first game?!
Salaar, the creator of the Lost Lands of Verne taught Wes, Sophia, Julianna, and Laura to play with the very first commercial print of the game. Wes came out strong but the girls got together to humble him.
Catan was ripping on back-to-back tables. Legend says they are still playing.
The bartender asking me, “Is this a hot person game night?”
Thank you for playing,
Safi
What’s Next?
I hope you can make it! There are plenty of you I have yet to meet in person. Interest form here to be invited to future events.
I am looking for NYC-based venues that match our needs and sponsors who want to get involved.
